Life is never slow on the campus of Belmont University, but 2018 was particularly exciting and eventful. As students, faculty and staff steadfastly pursued rigorous academics and transformative educational experiences, the entire campus was able to celebrate a number of proud highlights, including:
- Cheering on the United States Davis Cup Tennis Team in their quarterfinal match against Belgium in the Curb Event Center
- Landing our highest First Destination/Career Outcomes Rate in history
- Welcoming a record 8,318 students to campus this fall
- Officially opening the O’More School of Design with 100 interior, fashion and graphic design students
- Cutting the ribbon on Tall Hall, our brand new 610-bed residence hall that towers over campus
- Celebrating another Top 10 ranking by U.S. News and World Report
- Watching Athletics win the OVC Academic Achievement Award for the sixth year in a row, marking 15 out of the last 17 years that Belmont has won its conference academic trophy (not to mention seeing women’s basketball team bring home a third straight OVC Championship)
- Sending nearly 900 students overseas this year, leading to a Top 5 national ranking for short-term study abroad programs
- Seeing Belmont Law first-time test takers score their highest results to date on the bar exam, landing top among their peers in Tennessee
- Partnering with alum Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley on new nonprofit The Store, a free referral-based grocery store
- Taping “CMA Country Christmas” on campus
- Receiving an unprecedented gift of works from the estate of world acclaimed sculptor Frederick Hart with plans to open a museum next to the GIG in May 2019
- Topping $200 million in our comprehensive We Believe fundraising campaign
- Announcing plans to build a new Performing Arts Center, one planned to be the finest music performance hall on any college campus in the world
It’s been an incredible year, and 2019 promises to be even better!
