Dr. Linda Holt, associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and associate professor of English, recently published an article titled “The Campus on the Hill: Diversity at Our Doorstep,” in Transformative Dialogues: Teaching and Learning Journal. The article draws upon Holt’s experiences with service-learning and emphasizes that having new students participate in critical service-learning initiatives can be a crucial step toward helping students develop civic consciousness.
