Belmont University launched a new look today for its home page, www.BELMONT.edu. Designed in house by Creative Services and implemented by ITS and University Marketing, the Web site offers significant improvements in appearance and functionality.
April Maglothin, Creative Services Supervisor, said, “We wanted to capture the uniqueness of the Belmont community with our design. Every bit of research showed us what we already knew: the Belmont community is unique and innovative, so our Web site deserves to be too. The higher education market is full of traditional Web design, and there’s good reason for it… but we’re Belmont. We didn’t want to settle for a completely traditional design; we wanted everyone who visits to see that we’re different from other colleges and universities.”
Complete with a new look, streamlined navigation and easy-to-find university highlights, Belmont’s updated site features video highlights, rotating informational boxes, a comprehensive search option and direct links to Belmont’s social media presence.
In addition to providing easy access to information to external audiences, the new site also serves the Belmont community with direct connections to resources. In fact, the home page allows visitors to “sort themselves” into the category that will most efficiently provide them the information they seek. For example, Prospective Students are linked directly to all of the resources they would need to discover their path at Belmont, including information on the university, Nashville, academic programs, financial aid and an interactive campus tour. The “Current Student” portal from the home page takes students to my.Belmont.edu where they can connect to classes, email and accounts through BIC . The “Faculty and Staff” button provides a link to a page of resources pertinent to all Belmont employees.
