Belmont Student Studies Migrating Armadillos – Nashville City Paper

Lee Griggs, a senior biology major at Belmont University, has been conducting a study on the armadillo in Middle Tennessee since July, asking people who spot them to report on their findings. The study, which will run through December, aims to observe the gradual movement of the non-native animals from West Tennessee toward Davidson County. The mammals are considered pests for many citizens, tearing up topsoil in search of food and shelter. Griggs hopes the project will help shed light in an area that has had very little previous attention. Read the whole story in the Nashville City Paper. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has more information about Grigg’s armadillo research project.
