Belmont Announces Women’s History Month Events

Belmont University has scheduled several Women’s History Month events during the month of March, including a musical performance, an exhibit of art by women artists, a discussion of the role of sexuality in pop-music marketing, and an address by former Secretary of Energy and current Fisk University President Hazel O’Leary, and a discussion of women in the computing industry.


Scheduled Events:
Tuesday, March 15,
Concert by up-and-coming Americana musician – and Belmont alum – Adrienne Young, (www.adrienneyoung.com)
7:00 p.m., Curb Café.
Wednesday, March 16
The Department of Sociology will present “Selling Sex to Radio Program Directors,” featuring the research of former Belmont students Denise Nichols & Emily Tanner-Smith
10:00 a.m., Massey Boardroom, 4th Floor, Massey Business Center
Wednesday, March 23
Dr. Karen Wieckert, Assistant Professor of Information Systems Management in the College of Business Administration, will present a talk entitled, “The Pipeline for Women in Computing”
10:00 a.m., Room 100, Massey Business Center
Thursday, March 31
Women’s History Month Keynote Address by Dr. Hazel O’Leary, President of Fisk University and former Secretary of Energy
5:30 p.m., Massey Boardroom, 4th Floor, Massey Business Center
Month of March:
Art exhibit featuring the work several local women artists in a variety of media including sculpture, painting, photography, textiles, printmaking, collage and jewelry-making.
