Fiesta Belmont features Latin music, food and dance
Fiesta Belmont: Nashville’s Latin Music Street Fair returns to Belmont University on Saturday, April 1. The street fair features a day-long schedule of continuous Latin music performances, Latin food vendors, kid’s activities, and Latin dance groups. Admission to the event, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the beautiful Belmont University campus, is free.

Nobel Prize-Winning Economist to Speak at Belmont
The Belmont Center for Business Ethics announces that Nobel Prize winning economist Dr. Robert W. Fogel of the University of Chicago will speak at Belmont on March 22. Fogel, the Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of American Institutions and Director of the Center for Population Economics at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, won the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. His most recent book, The Fourth Great Awakening and the Future of Egalitarianism, argues that every movement for progressive economic, social and political change in U.S. history has had Christians in the vanguard.
Welcome Home Celebration Planned for Bruins’ Return
The Belmont Bruins men’s basketball team will return from San Diego and their first appearance in the NCAA tournament today. An on-campus celebration in honor of their amazing season is being planned. Game Delay Information
Today’s NCAA tournament games in San Diego have been delayed after a security concern at Cox Arena. No one from Belmont was on the grounds at that time. Tip-off for the Belmont vs. UCLA game will now be at approximately 5:05 CST. The official viewing party festivities will begin at 4:30. Several media representatives will be on campus in anticipation of the game. Please make plans to attend the viewing party in support of our Bruins. Also, today’s other tournament games are being broadcast in the Beaman Student Life Center prior to the viewing party.

Vision Providing Frequent Updates

Christia Brown, a Belmont alumna (class of ’95) and UCLA UCLA assistant professor of psychology, will be rooting for her alma mater tomorrow when the two teams meet in the NCAA Tournament, reports UCLA’s The Daily Bruin. Bruins Head West To Meet UCLA
The NCAA Tournament-bound Belmont Bruins men’s basketball team headed west today to San Diego, where they’ll play the UCLA Bruins in a first-round game Thursday afternoon. A large crowd gathered to send the Bruins off to “the Big Dance” in style.
Belmont (20-10, 15-5 Atlantic Sun) – winners of the Atlantic Sun Championship – received a 15 seed in the Oakland regional, and will play the Pac-10 Champion Bruins in San Diego Thursday at 3:55pm CT. Women to Face Tennessee Tech in NIT First Round Wednesday
Belmont’s women’s basketball team, winners of the Atlantic-Sun Conference regular season title, has been invited to be one of the 40 teams to play in the Women’s NIT. The team will travel to Cookeville to face Tennessee Tech in the first round. The game will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday. Tennessee Tech holds a 19-12 advantage in the all-time series, but the teams have not met since 1984. Bruins Online will have updates as the Bruins continue their stellar season in the NIT. The Bruins won the A-Sun regular season title outright, earning them an automatic bid to the NIT if they didn’t qualify for the NCAA tournament by winning the A-Sun Tournament. The Bruins lost to Gardner-Webb in the semifinal game of the A-Sun tournament.
