Pharmacy Students Volunteer at Dispensary of Hope

DispofHope.jpgOn Wed., Dec. 3, seven pharmacy students volunteered at the Dispensary of Hope, which is located off of Rosa Parks Boulevard, to help out with the “sorting of the pallets.” A week prior, two pallets of drugs had been donated to the Dispensary. Tim Lance, managing director, wanted some help sorting the drugs out prior to Christmas season need. Students Diane Akin, Kathryn Richards, Julie Masterson, Bethany Bedford, Brandon Sintz, Jenny Cooper and Lori McCown worked on sorting, putting drugs in their appropriate bins, checking expiration dates and separating prescription from non-prescription drugs. Though the drugs have been “organized,” there’s still a lot of work to be done. The drugs need to be documented in the computer and further arranged into expiration dates to ensure that they can be used before they expire. For more information on how to help, contact The Dispensary of Hope at (615) 736-5075.
