Renfroe Named A-Sun Player of the Year

renfroe0809hs.jpgBelmont University men’s basketball senior Alex Renfroe (Hermitage, Tenn.) has been named 2009 Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, the league announced Tuesday. Picking up right where he left off after his dazzling display in the 2008 NCAA Tournament against three-time National Champion Duke, Renfroe showcased consistency and a vast all-around game in leading the Bruins this season.
The 6-2 point guard finished the regular season ranked in the Top 10 in the Atlantic Sun in a whopping eight categories. Renfroe was first in assists (4.86), fourth in field goal percentage (.563), fourth in steals (2.24), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.32), seventh in scoring (16.3), seventh in defensive rebounds (4.59), ninth in rebounding (6.7) and 10th in offensive rebounds (2.14).
