Metro officials are spending $500,000 on a massive emergency-preparedness drill next month that requires 2,500 volunteers — but only 100 have signed up. … Metro contacted the Boy Scouts, Belmont University, the nonprofit Hands on Nashville and some local churches to help with recruitment. Emergency management officials said they’ve been promised about 380 more volunteers who just haven’t officially registered. … More than 200 people who do plan to be there are students and clinical instructors in nursing and therapy at Belmont, said Debra Wollaber, dean of Belmont’s Gordon Inman College of Health Sciences and Nursing.
