Retired forensics expert to give annual Vaughn Science Lecture
Bass.jpgDr. Bill Bass, retired forensics expert known for his dead body “farm” at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, will deliver the annual Vaughn Science Lecture at Belmont University, 7 p.m. Thursday, in the Massey Boardroom. The Vaughn Science Lecture is held annually and serves to highlight scientific research and its ramifications to both undergraduate science majors and the more general audience of non-science students and faculty. Dr. Bass, professor emeritus and founder of the Forensic Anthropology Center at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, has titled his talk “Your Bones Are Your ID.” A reception follows the lecture.

Dr. Bass is a legend in forensic circles, has assisted with hundreds of cases for the FBI and numerous other law-enforcement agencies. He created the world’s first laboratory devoted to human decomposition, the University of Tennessee’s Forensic Anthropology Center, and he has written or coauthored more than two hundred scientific publications, many based on murder cases and other mysteries he has helped to prosecute or solve.
A gifted teacher, Dr. Bass has been named “National Professor of the Year” by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. You can learn more about Dr. Bass at http://www.deathsacre.com.
