Belmont offers prepaid tuition plan

Belmont University is one of a handful of private universities in Tennessee that are participating in a plan that allows future college students and their families to lock in future college tuition at current rates – and even at a small discount. The private universities are participating in the ”Independent 529 Plan” put together by the Tuition Plan Consortium of more than 200 private, or independent, colleges and universities, reports today’s Tennessean.
The plan is named for Section 529 of the IRS regulations, which govern prepaid tuition programs. Belmont University President Bob Fisher says the Independent 529 Plan will help future students and their parents ot ”plan further ahead and think about (paying for college) and provide the resources to back it up.”
