Belmont Hosting Nashville’s Largest Latin Street Fair April 1

Fiesta Belmont features Latin music, food and dance
fiesta.jpgFiesta Belmont: Nashville’s Latin Music Street Fair returns to Belmont University on Saturday, April 1. The street fair features a day-long schedule of continuous Latin music performances, Latin food vendors, kid’s activities, and Latin dance groups. Admission to the event, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the beautiful Belmont University campus, is free.

More than 40 vendors will be supplying Colombian, South American, Caribbean and Hispanic food for this, the second annual Fiesta Belmont. Other booths will present traditional folkloric dancers, mariachi, conjunto, and salsa bands, dance lessons, piñatas and various children’s activities like face painting and inflatables. There will also be hourly drawings, with prizes provided by local businesses.
Fiesta Belmont benefits the YMCA Hispanic Achievers Program, which help children, youth, and adults of the Hispanic community to achieve their educational goals and better their lifestyles through programs developing strong educational and leadership foundations the participants. Major sponsors of the street fair are O’Reilly Auto Parts and Sam’s Club. Fiesta Belmont is presented by the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business with net proceeds going to the YMCA Hispanic Achievers Program
“This event mirrors the authentic Latin Street Fairs I grew up with as a child in New Mexico, a showcase for local music and incredible food. This event is becoming a major annual activity for Belmont University, providing positive interaction within the community” says Latin Fair Event director, David Herrera. Greg Henslee, CEO of O’Reilly Auto Parts, a major sponsor of event, continued, “We at O’Reilly are excited to be a part of this event and hope it develops positive exposure of the diverse communities that are growing Nashville.”
Fiesta Belmont is Nashville’s largest Latin Street fair. Attendance is expected to be at least 4,000 people this year, with the annual event anticipated to grow even more in the future, Herrera said, “a fun day filled with diverse food and entertainment.”
The Fiesta Belmont Latin music street fair takes place in the center of the Belmont campus. AIG Insurance, BellSouth and Bridgestone/Firestone are all additional sponsors of the event.
