Belmont Announces 2009 Summer Camp Schedule

Every summer Belmont University hosts many options for school-aged children to attend summer camps. This summer, camps are being offered for a wide variety of ages, interests, skill and talents. Several camps include direct contact information below, but interested parties can also view more information about individual camps and their costs by visiting Belmont’s Summer Camp Web page at www.belmont.edu/promo/summercamps.
Belmont Girls Team Basketball Camp
Senior and junior varsity high school girl teams are invited to apply for this camp. Campers can stay overnight or attend as day campers.
June 4- June 6
Belmont Boys Basketball Camp
The camp specializes in individual instruction and competitive league games for boys aged 7-17.
June 8- June 12
Beetles, Bugs & Butterflies
An introduction to the biology of insects and other arthropods, the courses at this day camp for school-aged children will explore how insects live, where they can be found and the potential benefit or harm they represent.
Session 1: June 15-19, Children entering grades 1-3
Session 2: June 22-26, Children entering grades 1-3
Session 3: July 20-24, Children entering grades 4-6

String Crossings Camp
This camp is for students in grades 8-12 with teacher recommendations. Campers will be able to work with nationally known faculty and learn about classical strings, jazz strings, and bluegrass and Celtic fiddling. There will be beginner, intermediate and advanced classes in fiddle and jazz/rock.

Belmont Young Artists Piano Invitational
This camp is for high school students studying classical and jazz piano.

Journalism Camp
This four-day camp is an intense experience for budding journalists who are rising high school freshman, sophomores, juniors or seniors. Campers will experience the fun and pressure of covering news like real reporters.

Belmont Girls Fundamental Basketball Camp
This basketball camp is designed for girls aged 7-17. Beginners as well as advanced-level players are invited to apply for camp.

Belmont Volleyball Camps
Several different types of volleyball camps will be offered at Belmont this summer. Ages and costs vary by camp.
July 12-14: Elite Camp
July 14-16: All Skills Camp
July 18: Setter/Hitter Camp
July 19-22: Team Camp
Rock Solid Christian Volleyball Camp
The goal of this camp is to prepare players spiritually, technically and physically.
July 16- July 18
TSCPA Accounting Academy
The Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants will sponsor this free camp for high school juniors and seniors recommended by a high school teacher or guidance counselor. The objective of the camp is to allow students to experience first-hand the dynamic world of business and learn more about the accounting profession.
